Tskiller's SongList
Hi, I am Andrew Vink (aka tskiller), and these are my picks for The Reader’s Remix.
I will be doing this in multiple parts, because I want to be able to do most of the main characters. This part includes The Dark Lord, The Lord, Mara, Belldandy, Skuld, And Urd. In a future submission I may change Urd’s and Skuld’s song because I feel there might be a better song out there in my mad pile o’ discs.
Dark Lord/ The Lord
The Hut on Fowl’s Legs/ The Great Gate of Kiev (Modeste Mussorgsky)
Hear it! Hut Kiev Hut-Kiev Rock-Kiev
Notes: T hese two songs are the last 2 movements of a big song called “Pictures at an exhibition”. The last 2 movements are played attoca (no stop in between) and are very good for describing the devil and god. The hut on fowl’s legs is a low brass heavy fast song. The bassoon solo is great for depicting the dark, suspicious setting of hell. As that movement ends, the rising runs make me think of shooting up and up above the clouds till Great Gate starts, and we pop into heaven. A lot of thick chord progression in the one, and the ending is indescribable, like God.

A Night on Bald Mountain (Modeste Mussorgsky)
Hear It! BaldMountain1 BaldMountain2
Notes: T he moving High woodwinds displays with great accuracy the chaos she can create. The low brass theme is great for evil characters too….
************************************************************************************************************************ Belldandy
1st Suite in Eb (Gustav Holst) Hear It! 1st Mov--Chicane 2nd Mov--Intermezzo 3rd Mov---March
Notes: This is a great song also. It starts out with a slow chaconne, which is a sweet low part played by the brass again. It makes me think how kind Bell is to others. It breaks into the 2nd movement, a fast and exciting movement. The last part makes me think of royalty or gods right off the bat.
************************************************************************************************************************ Skuld
Bizarro (Michael Daugherty)
Notes: This was a hard one for me to decide. But, eventually, I decided on “Bizarro” by Michael Daugherty. This bright and exciting tune, kinda chaotic, represents easily the chaos and antics created by her robots. And, the piccolo solo makes me think of her whenever I hear it…..
************************************************************************************************************************ Urd
Chameleon (Maynard Ferguson)
Notes: The screaming trumpets remind me of her risqué attitude and actions.
