MechPest's SongList

Okay, this will be all over the spectrum of musical styles, from techno all the way to classical pieces.

NIT Motor Club

Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix OST "Captain Jack - The Race"

Notes:

Considering how important the Motor Club is, especially in the Le Mans Race, I figured they needed a theme too. It pretty much describes itself throughout the entire length, and even starts off with the sounds of race cars roaring by. Little repetitive though near the end of the piece.

Urd #1

DJ Epic & DJ Mystic's "Dark of the Night"

Notes:

This has sort of grown on me about Urd. The techno upbeat rythmn makes her frantic energy at times, and the lyrics are of someone thankinng someone for not just saving her soul, but bringing love back into it as well.

Urd #2

Crazytown "Butterfly"

Hear it!          Butterfly

Notes:

This was the original song I had in mind for Urd, before I heard Dark of the Night. And the lyrics could almost be coming from Cevn talking about her - how he was lost before he met her.

Skuld

Johannes Brahms "Hungarian Dance No. 5"

Hear it!          Hungarian #5

Notes:

If anything, Skuld was the hardest of the sisters to figure out any themes for. But with the way this swings from fast to slow, reminds me of Skuld's temper flaring and then disappearing. Also it reminds me of the slow moments when she's not building mecha, and then her frenetic efforts when she gets a new idea.

Belldandy

Sarah Brightman "Deliver Me"

Notes:

I honestly can't say why I choose this for Belldandy. The lyrics come out as both someone who's suffered in the past, and someone who's heart's wish has been fulfilled. The harmony of the piece is performed in a slow mesmerizing trance style.

Peorth

Sean Paul "Get Busy"

Notes:

Okay, she IS the 'sex' goddess, and while this song just came out, it fits her personality (and attitude...) to a tee.

Mara

The Guess Who/Lenny Kravitz "American Woman"

Hear it!          Guess Who Original     Lenny Kravitz Remake

Notes:

My one 'parody' piece, if you could call it that. Beat has an emphasis on Mara's innate sexiness, but the words are telling 'her' to get away from the guy at the same time. Call it strange, but I get the feeling this is exactly how Mara acts.

Oni-sama & Kami-sama

Carmina Burana "O Fortuna" & "Fortune Plango Vulnera"

Hear it!          Carmina Burana (full)     O Fortuna     Fortune Plango Vulnera

Notes:

Of all the music I listened to while reading TBT & my AMG manga, I found this to be the best descriptive pieces for both of the Almighty Ones. Each of the two songs have parts that reflect both the dual natures of Oni-Sama and Kami-Sama, and seem to mesh together as it should be. After all they are brothers and of a dual nature.

Cevn

The Verve "Bittersweet Symphony"

Hear it!          Bittersweet Symphony

Notes:

Love found, love lost. A life given the greatest power there can be, and yet hopeless (so far) in finding a person to share that life. And when it was found it, he had to give it up so she doesn't even know, even though he's right there next to her. If that isn't bittersweet I don't know a better way to describe it. Oh, this is the character's theme, not the author's theme - I'm currently thinking of "Flight of the Bumblebee" for the author, to describe his frantic typing efforts.

Isilblius

Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver "End Credits" (Done by Information Society)

Hear it!          Legacy of Kain Theme

Notes:

So its way out there, so what? This piece is positively drenched in evil, misery, torment, and suffering. And a kind of 'juggernaut' approach mid-way through matches how Isilblius became such a overwhelming evil force.
