(In response to the many emails by the intellectually curious readers of Trial By Tenderness. New readers please note that spoilers lurk within these dialogues)
Divine Power in Trial By Tenderness
K1 died by Isilblius' hand prior to the death of Kami-sama and Oni-sama, so he doesn't know that they are limited like the Norns. Also the Norns are always bowing to and placating Kami-sama. If Belldandy, a creature that can make and unmake a world while unsealed, openly and without hesitation admits her subservience to another being that being must be incredibly powerful.
This is a good example of the questions I receive regarding how Trial By Tenderness addresses the question of Goddess powers. I've been working with a definite scale of Divine Energy in mind. Skuld explains it in Chapter 17 when she is calibrating her Shinseicorder:
"Each scale measures divine power. A mortal is under .0001. You measure .4 at the moment, Belldandy. If you broke open your seal, you would measure around 400. The scale goes up to 10000. Theoretically, Kami- sama measures 8000. We've been told that His power is twenty times that of an unsealed First Class Senior Urestricted Licensee."
The Goddess Power/Spiritual scale I've been working with (human mortals as a norm value of 1):
Mortals .8 (Normal) to 3 (Spiritually Advanced)
Ninjettes 20-30
License Suspension Status 50-100
Earth Spirit Grade 100-500
Goddess Second Class 1000-2000
Goddess First Class 4000-4500
Goddess Senior Class 40,000-80,000
Goddess First Class 4,000,000 (Unsealed)
Kami-sama 80,000,000
Ultimate Force Measurable up to 100,000,000
The Demonic Power/Spiritual scale is comparable to that of the Divine scalar sequence. For example, Mara's Demoness First Class powers would be 4000-5000 times that of a human. One cannot assign the Demons negative integers, because their power is also sourced in the Divine. Isilblius is circa 80 million when he is at his fullest powers. The absolute strength of the Ultimate Force is 1 billion.
