This has been a difficult year, considering that I had to replace a computer, spent 3 months in China, have had a ongoing dispute with my webhost, plus all the academic projects I'm working on. On the average, I write a chapter every 2-3 weeks. Each draft goes thru 21 levels of editing (such as fidelity, grammar, topicality, page-visioneering, thematic continuity) before I post it in the New Chapters. Sometimes I skip a few levels of editing. Also, there is the issue of 'retro-editing'. For example, in Chap 107, I named the transportation hubs of the restructured Yggdrasil as "Matrix". Now, because of the cheesy movie with that title, I've decided to rename them something else. Since I'm working on 108 & 109, I have to go back to 107 and fix it. Some decisions, which appear minute in detail, are actually time-consuming. Most recently, this involved the naming of the 'kids'. I spent three evenings in Beijing thinking up names that bore some semblence to Norse myth. Now, I am going to change the spelling of one name... Since I'm trying to write something better than hack doggerel, there's a bit of investment for me to try and get it right (which I manage to pull off once in a while).
