Reading it the original way IS important, 'cause if the mirroring isn't done excellent (and that hardly ever happens) the images get fucked up. Reversed clocks, reversed signs, driver's seat on the left in japanese cars and many other tiny bits can be very annoying. That's why mirroring sucks and it's just better to read it in the original direction.
